Malleable Cast Iron and Ductile Cast Iron are two different types of cast iron materials with a number of differences in terms of organisation, properties and applications.

1. Organisation: The basic organisation of malleable cast iron is cast pearlite (ferrite), and after the heat treatment process (annealing), the ferrite particles form flakes of pearlite, giving it malleability. In contrast, the basic structure of ductile cast iron is ductile, in which spherical particles of graphite are embedded in the iron matrix, giving it a higher toughness and ductility.

2. Mechanical properties: malleable cast iron is relatively brittle, with higher strength and hardness but lower toughness. Ductile iron has better ductility and ductility, and is relatively weak compared to malleable cast iron, but has higher impact and tensile toughness.

3. Processing performance: malleable cast iron has good malleability, easy plastic deformation and forming process, suitable for cold forging, hot forging and mechanical processing. Ductile iron is not easily malleable, but can be machined, milled and cut.
